Panels North facing, giving the panels a fantastic chance for collecting the Suns heat each day to turn it into free hot water for this household.
Except for the house next door, that is!
In the summer months, the neighbouring house would not be a problem.
However, in the winter months, the Sun sits in the sky at a much lower angle.
In this example, the house's height next door throws shade on these panels in the winter months increasing this household’s hot water bills. Unfortunately, their system works more like electric or gas hot water during these months.
Installing their Solar Hot Water system further up the roof would have been a much more viable place for all-year-round Solar Hot Water.
